How would you describe your hair prior to getting locs (natural, 4b, fine, dense, etc.)?
Natural, 4c, medium density
What made you decide to install microlocs?
The first time I noticed Sisterlocks was in 2019, I was in awe and wanted them immediately, but they were too expensive and finding a loctician to maintain them was difficult. I eventually learnt about microlocs and concluded they were the perfect alternative. They were just as versatile as Sisterlocks and allowed me to embrace my natural hair in a way I had always wanted.
What was your go-to-hairstyle when you first got your locs installed?
Two puffs.
How do you maintain your locs and what products do you use regularly?
I retie every 7-10 weeks and wash my hair with a clarifying shampoo every other week.
What do you love most about your locs and why?
I know everyone says this but the freedom, I never really have to worry about what to do with my hair and it is very freeing.
What has been the biggest challenge or adjustment?
Patience, because you cannot make your hair grow faster, but it does force you to accept your hair for what it is.
What’s something you wish you knew before getting loc’d?
You’'ll never stop admiring other people’s locs, but you will compare them less over time.
What advice would you give someone considering installing Sisterlocks or microlocs?
Do as much research as possible and get a trim!
