What do you love most about your locs and why?

I love how carefree I get to be with my time and styling (it’s cute even when I do nothing) and I love watching them change as they mature.

What has been the biggest challenge or adjustment?

The biggest challenge thus far has been the financial commitment – Microlocs definitely aren’t cheaper but I get my time back.

What’s something you wish you knew before getting loc’d?

I wish I knew how curly ended locs would affect bunching and breakage along with how much I hate sitting in a chair for reties (5 hours on average)

What advice would you give someone considering installing Sisterlocks or microlocs?

I would advise anyone wanting microlocs to not let excitement allow them to rush the process. Research the loc sizing, grid, and type of maintenance you expect to have. Research is the most important thing – especially finding a loctician who will align with all of those desires. I didn’t realize how difficult transferring locticians would be and the difference in pricing.
