Natural.

Braids.

I wish I knew how much patience it truly takes. The early stages can test you, especially when your hair doesn’t look how you imagined.

What made you decide to install microlocs?

I decided to start my microloc journey because I wanted something beautiful, natural, and freeing. I was tired of constantly manipulating my hair and wanted a style that could grow with me and reflect my individuality.

What’s your go-to-hairstyle?

Half up, half down.

How do you maintain your locs and what products do you use regularly?

I moisturize my hair 4 times per week and get reties every 8-12 weeks. I make my own hair products.

What do you love most about your locs and why?

What I love most about my locs is how effortless and authentic they feel. They have taught me patience, confidence, and self love.

What has been the biggest challenge or adjustment?

The biggest challenge since getting locs has been learning to trust the process. In the beginning, my hair went through stages that didn’t always look how I expected, but I had to remind myself that every phase is part of the journey.

What’s something you wish you knew before getting loc’d?

I wish I knew how much patience it truly takes. The early stages can test you, especially when your hair doesn’t look how you imagined.

What advice would you give someone considering installing Sisterlocks or microlocs?

My advice would be to be patient and trust the process. Your hair will go through different stages, and it might not always look perfect at first. Take the time to learn proper care, stay consistent with maintenance, and embrace the journey.

Shout out your loctician! Who does your reties today?

Her name is Reefa in Accra, Ghana.
